Laser Therapy

Painless, Drug-Free Treatments that Animals Actually Enjoy

We’re excited to offer on site,  in-clinic and take-home Multi Radiance laser therapy treatments to provide your animal with long-lasting pain relief for a wide variety of conditions. Laser therapy is a drug-free, pain-free, non-invasive treatment that helps to reduce pain, speed healing, and improve your animal’s mobility. Also referred to as “photobiomodulation therapy,” this modality has been used in both human and veterinary medicine for over 20 years to help patients.

What is laser therapy used for?

If your animal has sustained an injury, undergone surgery, or suffers from arthritis or other painful conditions, they may be a candidate for laser therapy. This side effect-free treatment can be combined with prescription medications, physical rehabilitation, and other modalities to accelerate your pet’s recovery.

We use laser therapy for many conditions, including:

  • Dermatitis
  • Dental Conditions
  • Lumbosacral Disease
  • Anal Sacculitis
  • Post-Operative Incisions
  • Fractures
  • Arthritis
  • Otitis
  • Snakebites
  • Gum Disease
  • Lick Granulomas
  • Pain and Inflammation
  • And more

Our practice uses 2 different types of therapeutic lasers to address every stage of your animal’s pain:

  • Super Pulsed Laser
We use an ACTIVet PRO® super pulsed laser to provide pain relief while jump-starting your animal’s damaged tissue to stimulate healing. We also use this laser to reduce inflammation and for infection control.

  • At-Home Laser
We may prescribe at-home laser therapy for your animal. Whether your animal is recovering from surgery or has a chronic condition like arthritis, at-home treatments can keep him/her comfortable. These treatments are short and give you the opportunity to be the one to provide your animal with relief. The My Pet Laser® 2.0 is easy to use and animals love it!

What to expect during laser therapy treatments

Laser therapy is non-invasive, so treatments are easy and often enjoyed by patients (some are so relaxed they may even fall asleep!). The laser emitter is moved over the treatment area (scanning) or held in place (depending on which laser you are using). Your animal's condition will determine the therapeutic treatment to be delivered and whether the emitter is placed directly in contact with their skin or if non-contact is needed (open wounds, tenderness). No fur clipping or shaving is required! Both in-clinic and at-home treatments take 5 to 10 minutes.

How does laser therapy work?

The laser uses focused red and infrared light to stimulate tissue at and below the surface of your animal’s skin. The biochemical effect of the low-level light increases the production of cellular energy and thus promotes cellular regeneration, production of collagen for tissue repair, and vascular dilation and synthesis for better circulation. Light from the low-level laser also encourages production of the body’s natural pain-relievers.

What are the benefits of laser therapy?

  • Laser therapy delivers the same pain-relieving benefits as medications, but without the challenges of administration and serious side effects. Adding laser therapy to your animal's plan of care can often reduce, or even eliminate the need for prescription medications.

  • Depending on your animal’s condition, laser therapy, combined with other treatments can delay or eliminate the need for surgery.

  • Laser therapy can be easily added to almost any plan of care to boost pain relief and accelerate recovery.

  • Animals love laser therapy. After they’ve experienced a treatment, they often look forward to their laser sessions.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal Wellness Screenings: Get a Picture of Your Animal's Wellness

How does thermal imaging work?

Thermal imaging measures radiated energy from your animal's skin. Differences in radiated energy can indicate problems in your animal's body.

Hotter areas depict increases in circulation and cooler areas show decreases in circulation.

These changes can assist your therapist in early detection and location of disease symptoms in your animal.

How does my animal get screened?

Your animal will stand in a comfortable position while you’re therapist quickly captures thermal images from different angles to visualize you’re animal's entire body.

Image capture is quiet, making it a great wellness screening tool for animal's with anxiety. No fur clipping is needed for accurate screening.

Thermal screenings help with early disease detection

During thermal screenings we focus on several areas of the body that often reveal early signs of disease:

  • Hips: Early detection of dysplasia prevents more costly intervention when the disease state is advanced.

  • Elbows: Conditions such as elbow arthritis benefit from early treatment and life-long management.

  • Back: Back pain is often missed and is a major contributor to quality of life and referred pain to other body parts.
